Creative Music Celebrates Area Music Teachers in 2023

Creative Music Center announced its Year of the Teacher on February 7th, 2023. The year-long celebration will honor and spotlight area teachers and educators for keeping music alive during the pandemic and delivering the gift of music to their students.

Creative Music will be publicizing the stories, people and achievements which brought musical joy to so many over the past three years.

The customized logo depicted in this blog post was designed to demonstrate how area music teachers are the heart and soul of enriching area musicians with the music education vital to growth and enjoyment.

“We have been trying to find a way to say, “thank you” to area educators for keeping music alive during the Pandemic,” said Creative Music Owner Mike Reisman. “In the world of music education, they have been our first responders guiding students despite the challenges and barriers COVID posed to teaching, instrument care, practicing and performing.”

The Year of the Teacher will be a series of media spotlights and events to include, but not be limited to:

  • Profiles of area teachers
  • Teacher Student duets
  • Students and Parents reminiscing about teachers and “teaching moments”
  • Current teachers highlighting the educators who have influenced them
  • Sharing third party research on the importance of music education on childhood development
  • Tie-ins into the National Association of Music Education’s “Music in Our Schools Month,” the National Association of Music Merchant’s “Believe in Music Week,” and Keep Music Alive’s “Kid’s Music Day”

“We are also considering a benefit concert,” said Reisman, “but those details have yet to be ironed out. The importance of this initiative will be to demonstrate to area teachers how much they mean to our community.”
